Features
The SmarTrack 5+ iMOB has been tested to the Thatcham S5 standard. The device operates using GPS/GLONASS, GPRS and GSM technology and has the added benefit of immobilisation to help protect your vehicle further.
The immobilisation activates every time the vehicle’s ignition is switched off and disarms through the Driver Detection card or the D-iD app. With the internal battery backup, the device has the ability to remain operational even when the vehicle’s power supply is removed.
In addition, the device monitors the battery voltage level, ignition status and detects if the correct person is driving the vehicle through the driver recognition system.

+ Driver Recognition
A requirement of the S5 Thatcham criteria is that the device must be accompanied by a system which is used to verify the driver of the vehicle is an authorised user.
With the Smartrack S5 and S5+ devices, driver recognition can be in the form of either the D-iD mobile app or a physical Driver Detection card.
D-iD is a mobile app-controlled system suitable for Apple and Android. The tracking device will detect whether the authorised driver’s mobile phone is inside the vehicle when travelling.
If the device does not detect the mobile phone in the vehicle, Global Telemetrics will endeavour to contact the registered keeper to ensure the vehicle’s safety. There is also an option within D-iD to receive push notifications each time the vehicle is started and report any unauthorised movement through the mobile app.
Driver Detection is a physical card-based system requiring the driver to carry a card when driving the vehicle. If the card is not present in the vehicle when moving, Global Telemetrics will endeavour to contact the registered keeper to ensure the vehicle's safety.

This device includes a full online account which allows you to view both the current and historical locations and journeys of the vehicle. The online account also includes features such as Geofences and access to data reports. The online account is paired with a mobile app so that you can access the vehicle’s location at any time.

The S5+ device includes an immobilisation element to the tracking device. Everytime you switch the ignition off the vehicle will be immobilised. To mobilise the vehicle you will need to have a Driver Detection card or the D-iD app open within the vehicle to start.

An aftermarket alarm can be connected to the tracking device, if the alarm sounds Global Telemetrics Secure Control Centre will make contact to ensure the vehicle is safe. Please confirm with your installing company before installation.

Thatcham Approved
The S5 vehicle trackers have a tag system. When a tag holder enters or exits the vehicle, the vehicle instantly
recognises them as an authorised driver. The tracking system must comply with this method in order to be certified

Category S5 Insurance Approved Tracking
When you park your vehicle up, a real-time location report is produced using GPS satellite networks . The S5 works on unauthorised movement, so if the vehicle is parked up with the ignition off and it is moved/towed, or moved without the tag, or in case there has a battery disconnect, a trigger is immediately actioned to the control center who will contact you.

Alerts and Notification

Waterproof Devices
We supply many trackers that have passed the IP67 testing meaning it is water and dust proof. Not all of them have this certification, so check with VTT beforehand.
Monitored Alarm Center with 24/7 Level 1 Police response
The Control Centre’s are monitored 24/7 so should there be any thefts, you can contact them round the clock. Equally, if there are any tampering, battery disconnect alerts or indeed any unauthorised movement they will be in contact, even if it’s the early hours.

Geo Fencing
With the app, if the tracker you have installed supports Geo Fencing, you can set a virtual border around the vehicle, so that if the vehicle breaches this border, you will be alerted immediately.
Immobilisation (At Police Request)
If the Police are involved in pursuing your vehicle in the event of a theft, they can authorise the Control Centre to activate immobilisation to stop the vehicle when it is safe to do so and stop the thieves going any further. The vehicle is immobilised every time your ignition is switched off and deactivated via the Driver Detection Card
Speed Alerts
As the name suggests, the GPS works to keep track of the vehicle and detects when you are speeding and will alert you.
Repatriation Network
Our tracker partners have a database of repatriation agents, who will work to assist in the recovery of your vehicle, so you don’t have to worry about how to get your vehicle back home. This is a chargeable service. If the stolen vehicle ends up abroad or was stolen whilst you were travelling in it abroad, we will work with the Police overseas to help with the location of the vehicle.
No Tag No Start Immobilisation
The Thatcham approved SmarTrack S5+ with imob has the facility if there’s no tag the vehicle will not start. If the tag is lost SmartTrack will have to be contacted to manually override the immobilisation over the air.
Location Request
If you are away from the vehicle and want to get back to where you parked, you can request the location in the app to guide you back to the car. If, however, you have parked in an underground car park, GPS tracking can only get you close to where the GPS signal was lost as you drove underground.

Battery and Anti-Tamper Monitoring
Every tracking device has a built-in battery backup which kicks in when the tracking devices main power source has been cut off or someone disconnects the battery. An alert will be sent by the Control Centre should the battery be disconnected.

Optional Alarm Input
This is when you connect an S5 tracker to an aftermarket alarm. In the event of an alert you will receive a phone call from SmarTrack control centre and a push notification. The main alerts for the aftermarket alarm will be smashed windows, tilt/motion or the shock sensor is triggered or indeed if the doors/boot or bonnet circuits are broken which will in-turn trigger the alarm.

Crash Detection

In most cases, you will be informed by the tracker company if your vehicle gets stolen. In some cases, you will have to call the given phone number to inform the tracker company immediately after you find out about the theft.
The next course of action is to obtain a crime number so therefore the tracking company can liaise with the police.
Yes, there is an annual subscription fee for all trackers. Either we collect the annual subscription fee, or the tracker user has to pay it to the tracker manufacturer.
Please note that the tracker will not operate unless you buy a subscription plan. This fee is charged because the tracker manufacturer or supplier monitors your car 24/7/365.
