Welcome to the FAQs section for ADR Immobilisers, where we explore the intricacies of protecting your vehicle against theft. Below, we address common queries with a blend of creativity, innovation, and comprehensive information.
An ADR Immobiliser stands for Advanced Driver Recognition Immobiliser system , a cutting-edge security solution designed to counter sophisticated theft techniques. Unlike traditional immobilisers, ADR systems utilise advanced ADR technology to create robust barriers against relay theft and OBD (On-Board Diagnostics) theft attacks.
ADR Immobilisers are available in Cat2 (Thatcham-approved) and non-Cat2 variants. Cat2 classification indicates compliance with Thatcham standards, which certain insurance companies require for coverage. Both Cat2 and non-Cat2 ADR Immobilisers offer formidable protection against relay and OBD theft attacks, with Cat2 systems meeting additional industry standards for insurance purposes.
Relay theft involves intercepting and amplifying signals from key fobs to gain unauthorised access to vehicles. ADR Immobilisers counter this threat by utilising encrypted key fobs as an extra level of security, making it virtually impossible for thieves to replicate or intercept key fob signals, thus safeguarding your vehicle against relay theft.
Yes, ADR Immobilisers are engineered to thwart OBD theft attacks, which involve exploiting vulnerabilities in a vehicle's OBD port to override security measures and gain access. By implementing advanced encryption and authentication protocols, ADR Immobilisers fortify the OBD port, effectively preventing unauthorised entry and tampering.

When using the ADR cards to immobilise your vehicle it is important to leave a few seconds gap between turning the immobiliser off and starting your vehicle please note this is related to certain vehicles where they can have an ignition delay mechanism.
If you try to start your vehicle too quickly, this can cause warning lights to appear on the dashboard. If this happens, please cycle the ignition 6 times with no foot on the break and the warning lights will clear.
